Location

Waves and Wildlife Cottages are directly on a beach fronted block situated on a cliff top at Stokes Bay, North Coast Kangaroo Island. View our location in Google Maps to locate Stokes Bay.

There are approximately 15km of unsealed road to access Stokes Bay. Any vehicle is fine (you don't need a 4WD). If hiring a car on the mainland please ensure insurance covers unsealed roads. This is a good idea anyway as a number of attractions also take you away from the bitumen.

Getting to Stokes Bay on Kangaroo Island

The best way to see Kangaroo Island is either with your own car or a hired car. Don't get caught with the masses on a coach line being rushed from one attraction to another - let us help you plan your stay according to what you will enjoy.

With a car

From Adelaide it takes you approximately 1.5 hours to drive to Cape Jervis, there you will need to catch a Sealink ferry to Penneshaw. The Ferry takes approximately 45 minutes (look out for dolphins playing in the wake of the ferry). From Penneshaw you will need to drive west and follow signs to Parndana and then to Stokes Bay which takes approximately another hour.

By plane

From Adelaide you will need to catch a plane with  Rex air. Trips take about 35 minutes and planes land in Kingscote. There you will need to hire a car. From the Kingscote airport it will take you about 40 minutes following signs to Stokes Bay. There is approximately 20mins of unsealed roads. No four wheel drive is necessary.
